Mondays are a tough day of the week for most everybody and the Milwaukee Brewers are no exception. On the last two Mondays, the Brewers have been outscored 30-3. It was 18-1 against Cardinals in St. Louis a week ago and at American Family Field last night, the Houston Astros clobbered the Crew 12-2 for their 8th straight victory. With a pitching staff stretched thin by injury, Eric Lauer the latest to go on the injured list with a tight, non-throwing shoulder problem, the Brewers need their healthy arms to come through and Corbin Burnes couldn’t do it against the potent Houston lineup. Yordan Alvarez went three for four with a pair of home runs and five runs batted in. Corey Julks delivered a homer with three RBI’s. Burnes lasted five innings, getting touched for five runs on 7 hits. The Brewer offense isn’t helping much either, managing just six hits for the game. Rowdy Tellez hit a solo homer and Tyrone Taylor added an RBI single but Milwaukee put another rough Monday behind them, dropping to 25-22 on the season and now sharing first place in the NL Central with Pittsburgh, a 6-4 winner over the Texas Rangers. Colin Rea will take the mound for the Brewers in game two of the series against Houston’s J.P. France. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:05 PM with a 6:40 PM first pitch on WTAQ.
