FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — A Fond du Lac County man who crashed into a Verizon store pleads not guilty Friday.
Twenty-year-old Benjamin Ayer was behind the wheel of a car that smashed through the glass walls of the Verizon showroom, injuring five.
A Fond du Lac police officer testified during Ayer’s preliminary hearing that Ayer admitted to huffing duster spray at a nearby parking lot before driving his vehicle.
Ayer’s defense attorney, Kirk W. Everson, set a different scenario for his client.
“This could have very well been an independent medical condition or emergency,” said Everson.
Ayer could face more than 12 years in prison if convicted.
