WINNECONNE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Wisconsin heifer has truly made a name for herself after running loose on the streets of a Chicago-area suburb last month.
About two weeks ago, students from an Illinois prep school drove to a Winneconne farm to purchase a heifer as part of their senior prank.
Everything went horribly wrong when the heifer got loose and authorities in Illinois spent hours trying to corral the bovine onto a trailer.
Once the heifer was finally captured, she was taken to a nearby Hooved Animal Humane Society in Woodstock.
With a new home, the heifer needed a name.
For a $5 donation, members of the public were able to offer their name suggestions.
On Monday, the winning name was announced: Blossom.
Volunteers at the humane society say Blossom is beginning to show her personality more and they’re working on finding her a forever home.
