GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Taylor Schabusiness asked Wednesday for her $2 million cash bond to be cut at least in half.
Schabusiness, 25, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse and third-degree sexual assault for allegedly attacking Shad Thyrion last year. She has pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect. She is scheduled to stand trial July 21.
She is currently being held on a $2 million cash bond. Attorney Christopher Froelich petitioned the court Wednesday for it to be reduced to between $500,000 and $1,000,000.
Among the reasons cited:
- She could be required to wear a GPS tracking device, and could live with her father
- She needs in-patient mental health treatment, which release from custody would permit
- Other murder cases have substantially lower bonds
- She has not previously asked for a lower bond
- She does not have the financial resources to post the $2 million bond
As of now, the next hearing in the case is a final pre-trial conference on July 17, although another hearing on the bond issue may be scheduled.
Jury selection is scheduled for July 21, with the case set to start on July 24. A five-day trial is scheduled.
