GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Green Bay Packers fans are reacting to news of an Aaron Rodgers trade.
It didn’t take long for some of them to make their way to the team’s pro shop to show their support for the new man under center.
“Pretty excited for the new era to start, and I’m actually here to buy a Love jersey — retire my Rodgers,” Tyler Rodriguez said.
“Had to come over and get one,” Al Renner said. “Have always had a Packers quarterback jersey my whole life. So, gotta support the Pack.”
Others, like Ron Evans were there to do the exact opposite.
“Gotta get the Rodgers jersey while you can still find your size because I don’t know much longer you can still get these here.”
Rodgers has undoubtedly left a legacy behind in Green Bay. That’s something that nearly all Packers fans agree on.
“We watched him throw it all out there every week for 15 years, and your career comes to an end at some point, so that’s just how it is,” Evans said.
“I mean, thank you for your service, Aaron, but I’m glad we got some value for him,” Renner said.
But after months of uncertainty, some fans said they’re happy that the front office finally put their trust in Jordan Love.
“We haven’t seen enough, but I trust that they’re pretty good at their job, and they seem to like him,” Renner said. “So, we’ll see.”
Renner believes the Packers got more of a return than he was expecting.
Rodriguez thinks it puts them in a position to win almost immediately.
“We definitely got more than what we wanted with those conditional first round picks. There’s gonna be a time — just like with Favre when Rodgers came in. We weren’t the greatest team, and it’ll slowly get better, but I’m very excited for the future.”
Although most fans agree that it’s time to move on, some can’t help but feel bittersweet knowing Rodgers’ tenure is over.
“They’re gonna have a rebuilding year, and from that point on, it’ll be back to how things normally are,” Evans said. “He’s a hall of famer. He was a rock for the community here.”
Almost every fan FOX 11 talked to on Monday said they expect Rodgers to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the Green Bay Packers and have his jersey retired with the team.
