GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Nearly a dozen Green Bay high school students were honored for their hard work and dedication to their future.
The school district held a ceremony at West High School for 11 students in the Bay Link Manufacturing program.
The program features a high-precision manufacturing learning lab equipped to complete projects for local companies in the areas of industrial welding, machine fabrication, and metals. Students learn about the business of manufacturing through sales, marketing, accounting, production planning, bidding and purchase orders, and customer service.
The students honored Thursday will graduate with college credits and have completed or will complete their Computer Numerical Control (CNC) certification.
“It’s the real-world parts that the students are making, which really make this program unique; we’re under deadlines, we’re under stress, sometimes things don’t go right, we have to work longer than we expected so things like that,” said Bay Link Manufacturing coordinator, Andy Belongia.
The students being celebrated are from Preble, Southwest and West High Schools.
