BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach has proclaimed this week as Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week in Brown County.
During a meeting on Monday, officials encouraged people to be prepared, make a plan and to stay informed when severe weather strikes.
They also announced that on Thursday, there will be two tornado siren drills.
Officials with the national weather service explain why severe weather awareness week happens in April.
“The peak severe weather here in Northeastern Wisconsin is right around the June and July month, and May is kind of an upramp to that June and July month,” explained Kurt Kotenburg with NWS. “And we want to start getting our severe weather hats on now so we’re prepared ahead of time.”
Officials say it is never too early to prepare you and your family for severe weather.
