The Milwaukee Brewers lost a series for the first time this season as the Arizona Diamondbacks captured the rubber game at Chase Field Wednesday afternoon 7-3. Janson Junk was called up from Triple A Nashville to make the start for Brandon Woodruff who landed on the 15 day injured list Tuesday with shoulder inflammation. Junk gave up a run in the first and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. launched a three run homer in the third. Junk lasted 4 and two thirds innings, giving up 7 hits, four earned runs with a pair of walks and strikeouts. The Diamondbacks led 5-0 before the Brewers rallied in the seventh, scoring three times. Two runs came in on a Christian Yelich single and Mike Brosseau tacked on an RBI to pull within two. The inning might have been bigger if not for a challenged double play ball from Willy Adames. The replay review sided with the home team and in the bottom of the 7th Hoby Milner gave up a two run shot from Corbin Carroll. It was the first time the Brewers have lost a game when they scored, suffering shutout losses three times. William Contreras went three for four at the plate and raised his average to .364. Milwaukee (8-4) still leads the NL Central but the road trip now moves to San Diego where they’ll begin a four game series on Thursday night. Pre-game coverage begins at 8:05 PM with an 8:40 PM first pitch on WTAQ.
