GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Wisconsin Department of Justice is working with local law enforcement agencies throughout Wisconsin for the Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
Anybody can bring prescriptions and over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, non-aerosol sprays, inhalers, creams, vials, and pet medications.
“A lot of people will look in the medicine cabinet and see that they have drugs that if they fell into the wrong hands could be abused,” said Green Bay Police Chief Chris Davis. “Like prescription pain medication, or meds like adderall.”
He noted that having an excess of prescribed opioids can often lead to problems with fentanyl.
Items that are not accepted include illegal drugs, needles/sharps, aerosol cans, bio-hazardous materials (anything containing a bodily fluid or blood), mercury thermometers, personal care products (shampoo, soaps, lotions, sunscreens, etc…), or household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, oil, gas).
The Drug Take Back Day in Green Bay is being held April 22 at Bellin Health on Webster Ave. and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital on Shawano Ave. from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
