FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Fond du Lac man has been charged with making terrorist threats for allegedly telling officers he planned to buy an “assault rifle” and “shoot up a school” while being booked on his third drunken driving charge.
Prosecutors say Darrell Scott, 66, was arrested Monday night in the town of Waupun. He was clocked at 94 mph in a 65 mph zone on Highway 151.
According to the criminal complaint, a breath test showed Scott’s blood alcohol concentration at .105. Deputies also said they found .72 grams of marijuana.
While Scott was giving a blood sample, deputies said he began discussing what he referred to as assault rifles. The talk continued as Scott was being taken to jail. Deputies said Scott said something similar to, “When I get out, I’m gonna buy an assault rifle and shoot up a school, there’s nothing you can do to stop me.”
Scott allegedly continued to make similar comments while being jailed.
In court Thursday, a $1 million cash bond was set for Scott.
If convicted, Scott faces up to nine years behind bars on the charges for terrorist threats, drunken driving and marijuana possession.
He is due back in court on Wednesday.
According to the criminal complaint, Scott’s previous drunken driving violations took place in 1995 and 1996.
