The Milwaukee Brewers wrapped up Cactus League play in Arizona with an 8-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday. Freddy Peralta’s final tune-up looked sharp, working four plus innings without surrendering a run while giving up 4 hits with five strikeouts. Luke Voigt and Jesse Winker each hit a two run homer as the offense collected 14 hits. The Brewers finished spring training with a record of 12-15. After breaking camp, the team heads north to open the 2023 season against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field Thursday afternoon. Corbin Burnes will make his second straight opening day start for the Brewers against Chicago’s Marcus Stroman. Pre-game coverage will begin at 12:45 PM on Thursday with the first pitch of the year at 1:20 PM on WTAQ.
Keston Hiura will remain with the club. The veteran infielder was released in camp but cleared waivers so he’ll come back to the Brewers and open the season at AAA Nashville.
