FOND DU LAC, CO (WTAQ) – The State Patrol reporting an accident this morning involving a semi and a Chevy Trailblazer resulted in a fatality. Officials say one other person was injured. Both were in the Trailblazer. The crash closed all lanes of I-41 southbound at Highway N in Fond du lac county, near the Winnebago county line, for five hours.

At 4:13 AM on Friday March 10, 2023 a crash occurred on I-41 SB at Highway N in FOND DU LAC County near NORTH FOND DU LAC.
Assisting agencies included Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, Fond du Lac County Highway Department, Winnebago County Highway Department, Eldorado Fire Department and First Responders, and North Fond du Lac Fire and First Responders.
The crash involved 1 fatality and 1 injury. The details of the crash are as follows:
A southbound commercial motor vehicle (semi-tractor/trailer) jack-knifed on the overpass at Highway N. While the semi was blocking the lane of traffic, a Chevrolet Trailblazer struck the rear of the trailer unit and became lodged underneath it. The driver of the Trailblazer was fatally injured during the crash. The front seat passenger of the Trailblazer was also injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the commercial motor vehicle did not report any injuries.
The crash is being reconstructed by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the commercial motor vehicle is being inspected by members of our motor carrier enforcement unit. This crash remains under investigation.
