FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A 40-year-old man is in jail after he allegedly threw a bike and chunks of concrete at officers, leading to police hitting him with a less lethal impact round.
The Fond du Lac Police Department says it responded to a report around 3:20 p.m. Wednesday of a suspect wanted on a felony probation warrant from a first-reckless homicide, party to crime.
Police responded to the 100 block of 6th Street, but the suspect had already left by the time officers arrived.
Around 5:10 p.m., officers say they saw the suspect riding a bike westbound on 6th Street. While the man did stop, police say he was not compliant with verbal directions.
The suspect then picked up two chunks of concrete and threatened the officers. He then threw one of the chunks at a squad car before hitting an officer in the leg, according to police.
The suspect then threw his bike towards a squad car before picking up the chunks and threatening the officers again.
An officer then deployed a less lethal impact round, hitting the man in the leg. The suspect then fell to the ground and was arrested without incident.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital for medical clearance before being taken to jail on several criminal charges, as well as the probation warrant.
The officer who had been hit with the chunk of concrete sustained minor injuries. Another officer received a minor hand injury while arresting the suspect.
Police say the investigation is in its beginning stages and remains an active investigation.
