GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Brown County Central Library moved over books and added a few TVs for its “Level Up: a Retro Gaming Extravaganza” event Saturday.
Some of the games included “Centipede” and “Asteroids.” Both were popular in the 80s.
Players could play other classic arcade games, as well as Atari, Nintendo and Sega video games.
People could also act out a live-action “Pac-Man” game.
Parents who grew up with these games brought their kids.
“I just got some pictures upstairs on the ‘Galaga’ and the ‘Galaxian’ machines. There was a dad standing and then their child on the chair playing, and that is why we do this, to get that chance for parents to share that gaming experience with their kids,” said Leah Liebergen, Brown County Public Library associate.
This is the second year of the event.
The library hopes that events like these can help draw people into the library for reasons other than books.
