GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) put on its 24th annual community celebration of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday and legacy.
They had speakers and events embracing diversity in the area.
Organizers tell FOX 11 they believe that it’s important to reflect on King’s legacy.
“Doctor King stood for something tied to equality and equity, and it’s still something that we’re working towards as a larger country. So, he gave his life for a purpose, a purpose that really helped to move the country forward. And his legacy is still felt today,” said Mohammed Bey, NWTC’s director of diversity and inclusion.
A number of other events around the area are planned to mark MLK Day
