GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ) – Grand Chute Police are investigating a possible act of vandalism at the site of the future Fox Cities Champion Center.
“Officers responded met with the reporting party and determined this was criminal damage to property.”
The call came in early Wednesday morning. Travis Waas, Community Resource Officer says they don’t know much, but they know it was intentional work.
“The damage is substantial enough that it couldn’t be construed that it was from the weather.”
Investigators spent the day gathering evidence, but nothing has been determined.
“There are a lot of moving parts a lot of pieces to kind of put together at this time.”
Miron Construction is the contractor for the project and will be working with the investigation.
They’re able to state how much machinery costs if machinery is damaged, as well as if something was damaged inside the champion center they would be the ones that would be able to make a determination as to cost,” he said.
The site will be home to a 164,000-square-foot complex that will include an ice rink, basketball courts and volleyball courts.
The complex is expected to be completed by September.
