GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The 2019 Cellcom Green Bay Marathon is less than four months away and this year runners will be going through new routes.
Full marathoners will be at Lambeau Field around mile four, which is much earlier in the race than in past years.
Organizers believe the preliminary route change will help runners feel fresher as they run around the stadium, allowing them to enjoy the experience more.
Organizers also believe that people looking to set personal records in the full marathon will enjoy a route which features more of the fast, flat surface of the Fox River Trail.
7:30 a.m. will be the start time of the half marathon, which is half an hour earlier than in previous years, fulfilling the request of many runners.
Around mile nine of the preliminary route runners will be at Lambeau Field and then they finish in downtown Green Bay’s Broadway district.
The 5K starts in front of Lambeau Field on Oneida Street and finishes on Mike McCarthy Way.
Local municipalities still need to approve the routes.
More information on the 20th annual marathon, which is set for May 19, can be found on their website.
