MISHICOT, WI (WTAQ) – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Bureau of Law Enforcement is investigating the illegal shooting of a bald eagle in Manitowoc County.
They are asking for the publics help after the injured eagle was found in the village of Mishicot.
The eagle was first spotted on December 7 off of Randolph Street and the next day was spotted at a second nearby property.
The eagle was taken in by Wildlife of Wisconsin and died during the rehabilitation process.
The bird’s injuries were consistent with being shot, according to a veterinarian.
It’s believed by officials that the eagle may have been feeding at a nearby river when it was shot.
