APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – As the influenza virus continues to increase ThedaCare is restricting visits at all seven hospitals.
Beginning on February 6, children under the age of 12 will temporarily not be able to visit patients.
If siblings of a sick family member don’t have cold or flu symptoms they may visit the unit.
This will not affect outpatient or clinic services.
Dr. Jennifer Frank, Chief Medical Officer says, “The flu is a serious, contagious respiratory illness that is best avoided by staying away from other sick people.” She also said, “If possible; washing your hands well, with soap and water to rinse away germs that could infect your mouth, nose or eyes; and getting vaccinated.”
The community is encouraged by ThedaCare to protect hospitalized patients from exposure by not visiting unless necessary.
Visitors are also encouraged to wear masks, as well as wash and sanitize hands while at the hospital.
