GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Over seven years, more than 1,300 deployments, almost 450 arrests, and finding thousands of grams of illegal drugs.
It’s a pretty impressive record for a K9 officer.
Grand Chute Police is showing off Fram, a police dog that’s been with the department for nearly eight years.
Officers say it was in late 2017 when they took Fram to the vet, to find out he has a tumor on his bladder.
The vet told officers Fram would most likely have only six months to live.
Over a year later, Grand Chute Police says the K9 continues to serve.
Now, the police department is getting ready for Fram’s retirement.
Officers like Fram came from the K9 program the department launched in 2011.
That program was funded almost exclusively through funds donated by the Grand Chute community. Starting Thursday Grand Chute Police are asking the community for help in continuing the program.
If you’re interested, you can make tax-deductible donations to the Grand Chute Police K-9 Fund.
Donations can be mailed in or dropped off at the Grand Chute Police Department.
