MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WSAU) — A recent survey of Wisconsin’s Republican convention delegates shows little love or excitement for Donald Trump, but it also shows little interest in a late “dump Trump” movement.
The survey by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinal interviewed several Wisconsin delegates, and found very few of the 42 Republican Badger state delegates actually voted for Trump in the primary. Ted Cruz won this state.
The paper found that the delegates sill have concerns and skepticism towards their party’s apparent nominee, but they are not anxious to support a convention rule change proposal that would free up the delegates to vote for someone other than who they are pledged to. Such a rule could bring in an alternative candidate to go up against Hillary Clinton in November. Most of the delegates told the paper they were not in favor of changing the rules this late in the process.
The Republican National Convention starts July 18th, in just three weeks. Some of the delegates are wondering just how different this convention might be.
