TAYCHEEDAH, WI (WLUK) — A teenage boy is dead and two other teens seriously injured in a car accident Saturday morning in the Township of Taycheedah.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says it received a call at 3:25 a.m. for the crash on Golf Course Drive, east of Taft Road. The front seat passenger, a 16-year-old male from Eldorado, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities. The driver, a 16-year-old male from the Mount Calvary area, was flown to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center for life-threatening injuries. The sheriff’s office says a backseat passenger, a 16-year-old female from Fond du Lac, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to SSM Health – St. Agnes in an ambulance.
Authorities believe the vehicle had been traveling westbound on Golf Course Drive at a high rate of speed, lost control, and entered the north shoulder, striking a tree on the north side of the road.
The sheriff’s department says alcohol was also a factor in the crash.
Each of the teens, whose names are not being released at this time, attend different high schools. Sheriffs officials say they’re notifying Laconia High School in Rosendale, St. Mary’s Springs Academy in Fond du Lac, and Fond du Lac High School so they can assist students as needed.
