Milwaukee Brewers
It’s been a busy off-season for the Milwaukee Brewers. General Manager and President of Baseball Operations Matt Arnold has pulled off a couple of trades landing catcher William Contreras from Atlanta, outfield Jesse Winker from Seattle. He brought back pitcher Wade Miley and secured one year deals to avoid arbitration with several key players like Brandon Woodruff, Eric Lauer, Luis Urias and Willy Adames. The latest addition arrived Wednesday as Milwaukee signed Brian Anderson to a one year, 3.5 million dollar contract. Anderson has played third base and in the outfield for the Miami Marlins and while he batted only .222 last season, he had a solid rookie campaign, finishing fourth in the National League Rookie of the Year balloting in 2018.
The Brewers held their Hot Stove/Cold Brews event at American Family Field Wednesday night with several players getting a chance to mingle with fans. Among the players in attendance were Adames, Freddy Peralta, Aaron Ashby and Garrett Mitchell.
The excitement is building as the Brewers are about a month away from the start of spring training. Milwaukee released it’s spring training schedule on Wednesday and the first game to be broadcast over the Brewer Radio Network (including 1440 AM, 101.9 WNFL) will be on February 25 against the Los Angeles Dodgers from Maryvale, Arizona.
