APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Law enforcement agencies in dozens of counties across the state are receiving grants in order to help fight drug trafficking.
The grants go up to $50,000 and the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was one of the recipients.
On Tuesday, deputies accepted the grant.
The grants are made possible by 2017’s Wisconsin Act 261, which was authored by Representative John Nygren and former State Senator Leah Vukmir.
$1 million was provided to the Wisconsin Department of Justice by the legislation to award local and tribal law enforcement agencies for the investigation and response to drug trafficking.
Grant funds that remain available tally less than $85,000 total and will be distributed through a separate grant process.
