NEW LONDON, WI (WTAQ)- Waupaca County has a first of a kind homeless shelter.
The shelter is available for Waupaca County and surrounding communities all day, every day.
“The need is much grander than, I think, a lot of people think because it’s a lot of small towns, small communities, but there’s a huge demand for our service.”
Director of Business and Development for Mission of Hope House Vickie Frank says the area is in need of this.
“If somebody finds themselves that they need to inquire a situation they’re in, they can call us 24/7.”
Director of Operations Lori Prahl says programs and resources are a big part of what they offer.
“For the last two years we’ve been doing a lot of preventative and programming and we offer classes.”
Prahl says they also have a community thrift store across the street.
“Our need for donation and community support is more so now than ever.”
The shelter has 21 beds and priority is given to families.
