GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Mercifully, the month of February is coming to an end. And if you think it’s been especially harsh, weatherwise, you’re right.
National Weather Service says over 28 inches of snow fell in the Green Bay area, making it the second snowiest February on record.
And, at 63 inches, overall snowfall for this winter up to now is also above average. Meteorologist Jeff Last says the snow globe effect began at the end of January.
“The vast majority of our snowfall this winter has occurred in that five and a half week period.”
A little bit of snow to start the month of March, 1 to 3 inches, and then…..
“Looks like some dry weather and then quite cold heading into the weekend and the first part of next week.”
The dry spell could go one for a week or so and then, Last the early computer runs show some more unsettled weather moving in.
He also says one concern going forward is a quick warm-up heading into spring.
Some high temps, melting the unusually high snowfall, could easily create flooding conditions along area rivers and streams, especially south of Green Bay.
