ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department along with the DePere Fire/Rescue was dispatched to the Fox River in Ashwaubenon off Bay Harbor Circle for a report two fishermen on the ice in distress.
A resident at Bay Harbor Circle observed the two men on the ice around 6 last night, trying to make their way to shore but they were breaking through the fragile ice.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety and DePere Fire/Rescue arrived on scene and deployed rescuers onto the ice with ice rescue suites and a rescue raft.
The two fishermen were brought to shore and they were not injured and did not need medical attention.
This should be a reminder to the public that there is no reason for anyone to be on a body of water with the recent warm temperatures and rain.
