Flooding Leads to Northside Evacuations
SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Several people were evacuated from Suamico Friday morning because of flooding.
Firefighters say ice jams caused the Suamico River to overflow its banks.
Henry Sheedy tells FOX 11he’s amazed by all the flooding from the Suamico River.
He grew up in the area but said he’s never seen anything like this.
“My aunt lives in this house right here, they got evacuated about 5 in the morning. Basement is full of water just terrible.”.
Melissa Mueller said she also woke up to water all around her home and pouring into the basement. Mueller said she’s lived on School Lane for 10 years and has never experienced flooding this bad
“Got up like it was a normal day and got outside and noticed there was no snow anymore. The water was right to the back door, we knew we were instantly flooded.”
Meanwhile, in Howard, those on Valley Lane, which is along Duck Creek, have been ordered to evacuate.
An emergency shelter has been set up at Preble High School in Green Bay for the Howard-Suamico evacuees.
