NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) – A man was sentenced on Tuesday for his role in a September 2018 standoff in Neenah.
30-year-old Eric Vandenboogaard was sentenced to 45 days in jail after previously being convicted of two misdemeanor disorderly conduct counts, while a jury acquitted him of a felony endangering safety charge.
The criminal complaint states that Vandenboogaard grabbed a gun and fired it after arguing with a man on September 10.
According to the complaint, a neighbor came over and locked the gun in his safe after the bullet struck a mattress.
Both the man that Vandenboogaard argued with, and his mother, were escorted by police out of the residence.
Vandenboogaard was eventually arrested and he told police that he did not mean for the gun to go off and did not point it at the victim.
The complaint states that he also told police he had perhaps 10 beers that day.
