GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A Green Bay man is headed to trial for his alleged 11th drunk driving offense.
On Thursday, Douglas Kluth waived a preliminary hearing and is scheduled to enter a plea on April 11 to one count of OWI-10th or more.
Officials say Kluth, 66, parked his vehicle and approached a state patrol trooper that was assisting with a traffic incident.
Kluth said he had four beers in the three hours prior and the trooper noticed an open beer on the console.
His preliminary breath test was not admissible in court, but showed a blood alcohol level of .134, which is above the normal limit of .08 and more than six times his imposed limit of .02 due to prior convictions, according to the complaint.
According to the complaint, he had a valid driver’s license.
Kluth was last convicted for a 2006 drunk driving incident in Brown County where he admitted to having 12 beers before crashing his car, according to court records.
He was sentenced to three years in prison for that incident, but the criminal complaint doesn’t contain a blood alcohol level.
The criminal complaint from 2006 lists previous OWI incidents on:
- May 11, 1991
- Nov. 22, 1991
- Dec. 23, 1991
- Sept. 4, 1993
- Nov. 13, 1993
- March 25, 1996
- Jan. 16, 2000
- Nov. 28, 2003
He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
