BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ) – A Bellevue gas station and nearby Burger King restaurant was evacuated last night (TUE) because of a natural gas leak.
Brown County sheriff’s deputies were called to Kwik Trip at 2618 Monroe Road.
Emergency crews found that the leak was coming from a semi truck filling with compressed natural gas fuel. They determined that a fuel line on the truck was leaking.
Authorities credit the truck driver with having the presence of mind to shut off the pump before evacuating.
One the truck’s fuel tank emptied and the gas dissipated, the Kwik Trip and Burger King were allowed to reopen.
The businesses were closed for about an hour.
Sheriff’s officials say the truck belonged to Contracted Transport Service of Green Bay.
