APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Community Blood Center is urging community members to make lifesaving donations.
The center says it has issued an urgent need for A positive, A negative, O positive, and O negative blood types. Eligible blood donors are urged to schedule a blood donation immediately.
These blood types are at dangerously low levels and in the past several weeks, finding blood donors has been challenging despite constant recruitment, promotions and special blood drives in hopes of bringing in donors.
“Starting the year off with an urgent need is never what we want to see, but this is our current situation,” said Kristine Belanger, MBA,MT(ASCP), Vice President, Operations and Chief Operating Officer at The Community Blood Center. “We encourage community members to commit to making blood donation a part of their routine in 2023. It’s more than just an appointment every 8 weeks, it’s saving the lives of our loved ones, neighbors, coworkers and friends.”

All presenting blood donors will receive a long-sleeved CBC t-shirt through Sunday, Jan. 15 (while supplies last).
