ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Brown County Arena is not just any stage for rockstar Bret Michaels.
“We started my career here,” he said.
Thirty years ago, when Michaels was the lead singer of Poison, the band filmed the video for their hit song ‘Every Rose has it’s Thorn’ here at the Brown County Arena.
“‘Every Rose has its Thorn’ is one of the longest-ever remaining number-one songs on the charts, so Green Bay has brought some awesome luck,” said Michaels.
Making the fans here in Wisconsin his good luck charms.

“It was such a great chemistry because the fans in the video they’re rocking and having a great time. Then we started off every world tour here. Even some of these solo tours right here in this building.”
For some fans, this show was a must see.
“Bret Michaels puts on an amazing show,” said Jerry Saurbeir. “This closes down the Brown County Arena. The veterans arena will be no more after this. So we did the whole VIP thing.”
“I listened to Poison growing up a little and I’m still keeping in touch with their music,” said Laura Duket.
The words “Nothing but a good time for the last time. were the backdrop for the final show. But with a new generation of fans, Michaels says he’s sure to come back.
“They’re putting in a building here, I’m going to say 93 or 94 million dollar building, just throwing that out there. I say Bret Michaels, and a big party, and we bring a bunch of friends, and a band, and we open that building up and make it amazing,” said Michaels.
The new expo center won’t be ready until 2021. So for now, Michaels’ focus is sending the Arena out on the right note.
“The big final night, I wanted to be here for that,” said Michaels.
The demolition of the Brown County Memorial Arena is scheduled to begin May 1st
