APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – They are not happy to see it, but Appleton City Officials say they’re prepared for a short return of winter.
“The last thing we want to do in April is to spend time and resources hauling snow that we know is going to be melted in the course of two weeks.”
Appleton Mayor Tim Hannah says he knows they will recover after having a much larger snowstorm last April, but snow removal pushes back other April projects.
“It pushed our construction of Jones Park back last year and other projects and it just caused a delay.”
Timing is a factor since Appleton gets very busy in the summer and fall with Mile of Music and Octoberfest bringing in thousands of people.
Mayor Hannah says it also delays the process of beautifying the city.
“People get out and just clean up their yards and it doesn’t matter how big or how small the house is or how much it is worth, people just take a lot of pride here.”
He says the first warm weekend of the year is when homeowners start to get to work.
