SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ) – For the second April in a row, Shawano was hit hard by winter weather.
It’s a scene that Shawano residents did not want to repeat but once again Thursday’s April showers brought snow, ice, and slippery roads.
“People were driving down the roadway and it was packing down and quickly turning to ice”, said Shawano County Sheriff Adam Bieber.
He said by the afternoon hours they responded to 25 calls for vehicle crashes.
He says part of the issue was that the snow was so wet and heavy.
During the day, he posted a video asking people to stay home if they can.
All of the public school districts in Shawano canceled school for the day.
