BONDUEL, WI (WTAQ) – The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office says they are investigating vandalism at St. Paul church cemetery in Bonduel.
“Our deputy responded and observed quite a few gravesites that were disturbed. Items around the gravesites were damaged and it looked intentional.”
Shawano County Sheriff Adam Bieber says they are using what evidence they have on scene and hoping for the public’s help to identify who vandalized items around multiple gravesites at the cemetery.
“There were footprints in the snow, so we believe that there were two suspects, and we believe think they used some kind of stick to do the damage.”
Bieber said they received the call on Monday.
No gravestones were damaged, but what was left behind was a lot of broken items and broken hearts.
“This shows a lack of respect for those who have passed and it really gets the public upset.”
Sheriff Bieber says anyone who noticed anything suspicious or has any information should contact the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department.
“Give us any kind of information if they saw something suspicious in that area that did not belong there. Most people are not visiting gravesites with snow on the ground yet.”
He says it appears the grave sites were randomly targeted.
