SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ) – Shawano authorities say that a drug ringleader and seven of his co-conspirators have been charged.
They say that 39-year-old Jaral McCollum a.k.a. “Sport” sold various types of drugs including cocaine, heroin, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and meth.
Authorities say that the drugs were sold in an area that spanned from Forest and Shawano counties to Winnebago and Milwaukee counties.
According to the criminal complaint, he would travel to Milwaukee to purchase drugs and then travel back to Shawano to sell them through a number of people and homes.
The homes the drugs were sold out of were within 1,000 feet of two grade schools and the Shawano Recreational Center, according to officials.
In November of 2017, the investigation into McCollum began after multiple sources claimed McCollum was selling drugs in the area.
He and his girlfriend, 21-year-old Desiree Webster, were arrested during a traffic stop in June 2018 after authorities obtained a court order to place a GPS on his vehicle.
They were in possession of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, synthetic THC, and ecstasy, according to the criminal complaint.
Webster said in an interview that between January 2018 and June 2018, the two made 50 trips to Milwaukee, spending between $4,500 to $5,000 on drugs per trip.
The two brought more than seven ounces of heroin, more than two pounds of cocaine, more than two pounds of crack cocaine and more than one pound of meth back to Shawano, according to her estimation.
The other individuals charged in the case include:
Kyle Collins, 30, of Shawano – According to the criminal complaint, Collins worked to bring customers to McCollum.
Christine Hensel, 30, and Conjetta Lazzaro, 27, both of Shawano – According to the criminal complaint, Hensel and Lazzaro both lived in a house on Center Street where drugs were sold.
Andrea Hokenstad, 41, of Shawano – According to the criminal complaint, Hokenstad owned a house on Center Street where drugs were sold.
Georgia Johnson, 56, of Shawano – According to the criminal complaint, Johnson owned a house on Center Street where drugs were sold. She also allowed McCollum to live with her.
Craig Johnston, 43, of Shawano- According to the criminal complaint, Johnston was considered a major customer of McCollum.
