GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Metro Fire Department companies were dispatched to a structure fire at 831 Radisson Street, Green Bay Packaging, at approximately 9:30 last night.
Upon arrival, smoke was visible on the interior of the plant floor from the exterior. Companies were delayed in locating the fire due to the large size of the structure and amount of smoke found.
Because of that, the incident escalated to a Box alarm level, or a third alarm assignment, which included mutual aid from several neighboring Departments.
The fire was contained to a dust collection unit located on the roof and was controlled and extinguished with the built-in fire protection system.
Due to the large area and amount of smoke, the Brown County Sheriff’s Department Air Boat was utilized for ventilation.
Damage estimates and cause remain under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
All plant employees evacuated and there were no injuries, civilians or firefighters.
