DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Weeks of training and adding more workers all goes in to filling the shelves for last minute shoppers this Easter Sunday.
That’s the case for Seroogy’s Chocolates in De Pere, and those hunting for the best Easter deals.
Sunday is Easter Sunday and for one De Pere mom that means last minute shopping.
Kayla Peeters is born and raised in De Pere.
She says every time the Easter bunny hops around, Seroogy’s is one of her first stops.
“We’re just out doing some family Easter activities today,” Peeters said. “Spend some time with family, go to church and absolutely Easter egg hunt.”
Customers like Peeters keep the store busy especially around the holiday.
For Seroogy’s that means plenty of prep time.
“We start right around Valentines day because some people do like to shop early,” said Marjorie Hitchcock.
She’s the director of marketing at Seroogy’s Chocolates.
From February 14 to Holy Saturday, employees are working on filling the shelves.
That includes adding some new faces.
“We train employees, we bring in new employees, some part time workers,” explained Hitchcock. “We just want to make sure we’re ready for everyone all the way around.”
Hitchcock says Seroogy’s goes through about 50,000 of those famous fudge eggs for the holiday.
“We’re very proud of the fact that people come back year after year and generation after generation,” she said.
And year after year people are willing to spend a little more green on the holiday.
The National Retail Federations says this year people will spend about $151 each.
