GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A former local high school coach is now facing various child sex charges.
27-year-old Jesse Pfaff, a Bay Port High School and De Pere Select boys’ soccer coach, was charged in Brown County Court Wednesday afternoon with two counts of child enticement and one count of exposing intimate parts.
Pfaff was arrested by the Brown County Sheriff’s Department on Monday.
A parent notified the president of De Pere Select Soccer after “she found out (Pfaff) had the boys pull down their pants to measure their muscle/fat ratio,” according to the criminal complaint.
The soccer president was also notified by the parent about several inappropriate text messages on her 15-year-old child’s phone from Pfaff. They “noticed texts from Pfaff saying they should watch movies together and hangout outside of soccer.”
Investigators spoke with five children during a month-long investigation of Pfaff, according to the complaint.
Investigators were told by the children that they trained with Pfaff at the Howard and Allouez YMCA locations.
Pfaff would watch them while they were in the hot tub and when they were naked drying their suits, according to some of the children.
The complaint states that “It felt like Jesse was always watching them.”
According to the criminal complaint, investigators were also told by the boys that Pfaff would make them strip to their underwear for muscle measurements that were done one-on-one and out of view of others.
The De Pere soccer club, YMCA, and Howard-Suamico School District “all appear to have performed their due diligence in screening Mr. Pfaff and when they became aware of the concerning behavior, they took the appropriate action to protect the youth they provide services to,” according to the sheriff’s department.
The allegations are from private training Pfaff provided, according to the sheriff’s department, and had nothing to do with the associations he was involved in.
It has been confirmed by a spokesperson for the Howard-Suamico School District that Pfaff was an assistant boys’ soccer coach the past three seasons for Bay Port High School.
“We have no indication that any of the alleged criminal activity took place on district grounds or as part of Mr. Pfaff’s role as a high school assistant soccer coach,” Brian Nichol, Director of Communications for the Howard-Suamico School District, says in a statement. “We remain in contact with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department in order to provide assistance as needed.”
A $5,000 cash bond was set in Pfaff’s initial court appearance and as part of the bond, he’s not allowed to have contact with two alleged victims and no unsupervised contact with any minors, while also not being allowed to volunteer or coach any minors.
Pfaff is due back in court on May 2nd at 9:30.
Pfaff’s attorney said in court that Pfaff was aware of the law enforcement investigation for nearly a month and “proactively” stopped working with children right away.
Pfaff has no criminal record and the investigation is ongoing.
The sheriff’s department says it is not certain whether there are any other victims, while anyone with information is asked to call Sgt Randy Lind at 920-448-6184.
