ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – Around 10,000 people are expected to be in Titletown when the President comes Saturday.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety Captain Jody Crocker says that means rules and procedures need to be followed.
With many expected to be waiting in line to get into the Resch Center, Crocker says it is important to come in with as little as possible.
“Anything that can be construed as a weapon is not going to be coming indoors,” Crocker said. “If you are going to bring an umbrella, it can be used as a weapon, so it is not the place to have it.”
He says that will keep the lines moving faster.
Crocker said in that case, attendees will be asked to bring those items back to their cars and given the parking limitations, that may include a long walk back.
“Lambeau Field is going to have limited parking and the rest will have to be on the village streets.”
Crocker says it will be much like a Packer Gameday, but the signs around the village that prevent parking on Gameday or Lambeau Field events can be disregarded since the event is not considered a Lambeau Field event.
Traffic around the Resch Center will also be impacted. Armed Forces Drive will be closed to traffic beginning at 9:00 am. Oneida Street from McCarthy Way to Lombardi Ave will be closed beginning at 1:00 PM Lombardi Ave near the Resch is open to vehicle traffic but NOT to pedestrian traffic. All pedestrian access to the Resch Center is from the west at Armed Forces Dr.
Protesting will be allowed in a designated area by the Don Hutson Center, but appropriate behavior is expected.
Law enforcement will maintain citizens’ rights to peacefully and lawfully assemble. A FirstAmendment zone is designated on the public sidewalk on the West side of Oneida, just south ofArmed Forces Drive Law enforcement has the authority to keep opposing groups separated tomaintain peace and order.
Unlike tailgating for games, no alcohol will be allowed outside or inside the venue.
