GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A prison inmate accused of killing another inmate at Green Bay Correctional Institution appeared in court Tuesday.
Brown County Court Commissioner Cynthia Vopal set a $1 million cash bond for Joshua Scolman. A preliminary hearing was set for Jan. 3.
Scolman, 39, faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree intentional homicide. He allegedly fatally stabbed Timothy Nabors on Oct. 21 at the prison in Allouez. According to the criminal complaint, Scolman was targeting another inmate with whom he had a dispute, but ended up killing Nabors, who tried to break up the fight.
Scolman is scheduled to be in prison until 2058 as a result of a conviction for a drunken driving crash that killed three people in Milwaukee County in 2007.
Scolman appeared in court Tuesday by video conference from Waupun Correctional Institution, where he is currently incarcerated.
