GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Harlem Globetrotter’s visit to a Green Bay school is making a difference.
Scooter Christensen spent some time with Baird Elementary School students Monday.
Christensen showed off his skills while instilling the organization’s message of “C.H.E.E.R,” standing for Cooperation, Healthy Mind and Body, Effort, Enthusiasm, and Responsibility. The message is geared to promote character development and a healthy, active lifestyle.
Christensen says he’s proud of to be a part of the Globetrotters. He says the organization provides opportunities to not only change their own lives but those out in the community.
“We can reach out to the kids. With other organizations, we can come to the schools and the kids can give us a high-five and give them a hug and we’re so personable and I feel like you can kind of change someone’s life that way, when they get a little bit closer to you and you have a good message behind it too as well,” Christensen said.
The visit comes ahead of the Globetrotters show at the Resch Center on Dec. 29 and at the Oshkosh Arena on Jan. 1.
