DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) – Some big changes will take place at Celebrate De Pere this week.
The biggest change is the event location.
This year the Memorial Day Weekend event moves from Voyageur Park to the Brown County Fairgrounds.
Jeff Tilkens, President of the Celebrate De Pere Committee says the move provides a strong future for the event.
“It gives us the opportunity to grow. It was starting to get a little tight for us and a little small,” he said. “It gives us a chance to offer parking on site.”
The other big change is an additional day.
“Because of the new grounds, we wanted to have a grand opening and celebrate our new location, so we decided to open up on Friday.”
Tilkens says beginning Friday instead of Saturday offers another night of music and a chance for people to come to support local organizations before taking off for their weekend plans.
“We are hoping that Friday night is going to give people another chance to come out and enjoy the event.”
The weekend includes a car show, fishing tournament, fireworks, Sick Air Motorcross show, kids entertainment, a parade, a Memorial Day Ceremony, and music every night.
Celebrate De Pere runs Friday, May 24 through Monday, May 27.
