GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay leaders say to expect some old favorites and plenty of new events this summer in the downtown area.
The twice-weekly farmer’s markets aren’t going anywhere.
“We are of course bringing back our Farmers Market that’s the kick off to our summer series and that starts next Wednesday,” explains Chelsea Kocken, with On Broadway, Inc. “Then, of course, our Ignite Market, Taste on Broadway, the Fourth of July, and our other signature events.”
The first farmers market of the summer kicks off this Saturday on Washington Street from 7 a.m. to noon.
Organizers with Downtown Green Bay, Inc. are saying that their summer events guide is jam-packed.
“Throughout the summer months in the downtown, there are a lot of events on the City Deck like Summers on the Fox, Farmers Markets,” explains Jeff Mirkes, Executive Director. “But we are always trying to come up with different ideas.”
And with more than a dozen new entries into the summer guide, there should be plenty of opportunities to try something different.
“We have a few new things like the Levitt AMP Green Bay Music Series, which is starting this summer,” says Kocken.
Organizers say that they try to tailor events to benefit local businesses as much as possible.
“I think the density of businesses creates for a more vibrant downtown,” explains Kocken. ‘When you have the people it brings the business, when you have the business you have the people, it’s kind of that joint effort.”
