NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) – A tragedy in the Fox Valley now has a positive spin for one California man.
Kevin Graves calls it going full circle.
After being involved in the 131-vehicle pileup on I-41 back in February, Graves lost his pet cat Bastet in the crash. At the time he was visiting Wisconsin.
“This one is very special to us. That crash affected a lot of people in our community.”
This week, Graves returned to the Fox Valley to make an adoption.
“He always would say that there is no tangible reason why he just felt it was the right thing to do.”
Carlyn Cooley, Co-Founder of Almost Home Kitty Rescue in Neenah says Graves adopted Topanga and Rogue and recently brought them back to California.
“They did make the trip back already safely, no problems on the airplane and they adjusted well to his house.”
Cooley says this adoption was extra special given the circumstances.
Graves is taking the time to tell his story and also provide inspiration and education for cat owners through social media.
“He is going to be providing education on cats and will be continuing to share the stories of Bastet and his two new kitties.”
Graves told the rescue that he wanted to adopt two because he wanted his cats to have a friend.
