OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Rainbow Park in Oshkosh has a new addition to help people stay safe on the water over the summer.
Oshkosh North high school students built a kiosk near the Fox River where people can borrow life jackets.
The Wisconsin DNR says it writes more tickets for failing to provide enough life jackets than any other reason.
Oshkosh North Junior Matthew Berger tells FOX 11 it’s important to have this safety feature in their backyard.
“Say you come to this boat landing or this park here, and you forget your life jackets, you don’t have life jackets, your life jackets don’t fit, you can borrow one of ours and put it back at the end of the day.”
There are 104 life jacket kiosks in the state.
You can find others in Fond du Lac, Menasha and Winneconne.
