GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The oral arguments on a Brown County sales tax have been rescheduled.
A judge will hear the arguments on August 29 regarding whether the counties sales tax is legal.
A half-percent sales tax was implemented by the county in 2018, while the Brown County Taxpayers Association has argued the sales tax is illegal because of the way proceeds are being used.
The courts have been asked to decide and the arguments were previously scheduled for June 5.
During a scheduling conference Thursday, oral arguments before Judge John Zakowski were set, while no trial has been scheduled.
66 of the state’s 72 counties collect a sales tax currently.
Earlier this week, Outagamie County approved the tax.
When that collection begins, which is expected in 2020, it will become the 67th county with a tax.
