FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – Fond du Lac Police say an incident that involved a man holed up in a house with at least two young children has been resolved with no one hurt.
The initial report around 4:15 Tuesday morning indicated that the man was acting strangely by running around the street naked and that young children were in the house on the 100 block of East Johnson Street.
Officers learned that the man was armed with a knife, holding the kids, in the residence.
Officers attempted to negotiate with the suspect and the City of Fond du Lac Police Department SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams were activated.
Negotiations with the suspect were sporadic throughout the incident. One of the childreninside was able to escape the residence.
SWAT team members used an explosive breach to make entry into the residence where they were able to rescue the two remaining children from the residence.
The suspect was also taken into custody by SWAT Officers without further incident and around 9:00 A.M. police say the whole thing came to a peaceful end.
The kids are safe and the man is in custody.
A portion of E. Johnson St between N. Main St. and N. Park Ave. was blocked off as well as many cross streets in this area during the incident.
Local schools were notified of the fluid situation.
