MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) – According to police in Manitowoc, they are one step closer to identifying a man found deceased last week.
The body of a decomposed man was discovered on June 13 in the 200 block of Maritime Dr.
According to police, there was no evidence at the scene to suggest foul play and no identification was found.
Police learned through the course of the investigation that the man’s description matched the description of a missing person.
Additionally, keys were found with the deceased man that opened the residence and another item inside the missing person’s residence.
Clothing sizes found on the deceased man matched the clothing sizes of the missing person.
Police will wait for DNA test results, dental record and fingerprint confirmation to release his identity, even though they believe the deceased man is the person reported missing.
Investigators are hoping that pending toxicology results will help determine the cause of death.
